Description

Mastodon allows you to host your own social media platform on your own infrastructure. Using a suite of standard protocols, Mastodon servers can exchange information with each other, allowing users to interact seamlessly.

Getting started after deploying Mastodon

On your first SSH login to the VM, you will be greeted by a setup wizard that will create a working Mastodon server. Going in, you need to be prepared to enter the following information:

1- The domain name (the DNS records should already point to the VM)

2- SMTP credentials for sending e-mails (this can be SparkPost, Sendgrid, Mailgun, etc)

3- Optional: Amazon S3 credentials for storing user-uploaded files (this can also be Wasabi or Minio)
